Gordon Alexander Collection (1916-1970)

Professor Alexander headed the Department of Biology at the University of Colorado and was the Curator of Birds at the University of Colorado Museum. His collection contains manuscripts and published works on biology and zoology; an extensive lantern slide file he created while at the University of Chulalongkorn, Bangkok, Thailand, of Thailand and Cambodia; lantern slides of Colorado and Southwest United States and others concerning high altitude research on animal distribution. Personal items and newspapers conclude the collection.

Gordon Alexander was born August 18, 1901, in Rock Hill, Missouri. He served for 35 years on the faculty of the University of Colorado until his retirement in July, 1966. From 1939 to 1958, he was head of the Biology Department. Dr. Alexander received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University during 1924-26.
